The Southwest Symphony Society orchestra will present its holiday concert, “ Trans-Siberian Sleigh Ride, ” at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Seward County Community College/Area Technical School Showcase Theater under the direction of Grant Mathews. The talented group of local musicians will play a variety of holiday music. Refreshments will be served and admission is a free-will donation.

“We always try to make the holiday concert a combination of classical and traditional music,” Mathews said. “I think this is a great way to introduce a wide variety of music to both our local musicians and our audience.”

The concert will include selections from the Nutcracker Suite, music from Trans-Siberian Orchestra, “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah, “Christmas Festival” and “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson, and Christmas carols including “Greensleeves,” “Silent Night,” and “Sing We Now of Christmas.”
