A new Kansas Lottery game will feature original paintings by Lawrence artist Stan Herd as prizes.

The Lottery unveiled its new “Painted Byways” game Thursday. The Lottery is partners with the departments of Commerce and Transportation, which hope the game will promote tourism and nine scenic stretches of highway.

The game’s $2 scratch-off ticket includes pictures of Herd’s work, including an example of the crop art for which he’s best known.

Players can win $10,000 in cash. But they also can submit losing tickets to the Lottery for a special Nov. 13 drawing to win one of nine Herd paintings, each depicting a separate scenic byway. Herd has paintings in Liberal, one on the north side of City Hall, and another at First National Bank. Herd also painted the mural located on the south side of the Plains State Bank in Plains.
