Employee Dies In Accident At Seaboard In Guymon

KSCB News - October 19, 2012 12:20 pm

Guymon first responders were called to the scene at Seaboard Foods in Guymon about 2:30 p.m. Thursday. An employee in the plant at the time said that an employee, who has not yet been identified, fell onto a shaft in the rendering department and died. “We are deeply saddened by this tragedy, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the victim’s family and friends,” the company said in a statement. Once the plant learned of the accident, the rendering department immediately shut down and enacted emergency response protocols, including notifying paramedics and local authorities, a company spokesman said. “We have pledged our full cooperation with the authorities’ ongoing investigations to ensure safety protocols and processes were and continue to be followed, and also have launched an internal investigation to help determine the facts,” the statement said. Arrangements are being made to provide counseling services for those employees affected by this unfortunate accident.
