A Turpin Two Step at the Chili Cook Off

A Turpin group raising money for the fight against cancer won KSCB’s Chili Cook Off Saturday on a sun splashed 70 degree day at Blue Bonnet Park in Liberal. The American Cancer Society Relay for Life Turpin wins 300 dollars and the Dunlap Traveling Trophy. The group will donate their money to cancer research. The Fab 5 1/2 placed second and won 150 dollars while Soul Sista Chili took third ($50) and won the People’s Choice ($25). SCCC/ATS SIFE won Best Presentation and 25 dollars.

There were 18 contestants at the chili cook off. About 400 people attended the event with money raised from tasting kits going to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Seward, Haskell, and Stevens Counties and Whirlwind Career Counseling for Veterans.

KSCB thanks everyone who helped with this year’s KSCB Chili Cook Off including Mead Lumber for tables, chairs, and tents; Detroit Diesel for a generator; and Nick Schwindt for donating 50 dollars to the prize money for the winner.
