Redskin Baseball Drops Heartbreaker to Hutchinson

The Liberal High School baseball team lost in the first round of Regionals Tuesday in Andover. The Redskins lost to Hutchinson 9-8 in eight innings. Liberal led the game 7-1 and 8-2, but lost the lead late before losing in extra innings. Hutchinson scored first to begin the game, but Liberal responded with two runs of their own in the bottom half of the first. The Skins’ then scored five straight runs to take a 7-1 lead. Hutch added a run before Liberal made it 8-2. The Salthawks then scored six consecutive runs to send the game into extra innings where they pushed across a run with a play at the plate to take the lead for good. Chris Flowers led the Skins’ in the win going 3-4 at the plate with 5 RBI’s. Liberal finishes their season at 13-8. They conclude their third winning season in a row. All of which have come under head coach Eric Olmstead.
