FCC STAFF IN KANSAS TO HELP CONSUMERS PREPARE FOR DIGITAL TV

On May 13 there will be only 30 days to go before the final June 12 digital television transition. Highlighting this milestone, representatives from the Federal Communications Commission and local television broadcasters will be hosting DTV clinics across the state of Kansas next week to educate consumers about what they need to do now to get ready and how they can get help from the FCC. Consumers are welcome to come see how to set up a converter box, to learn to adjust their antennas for best reception, and even to bring in their own converter boxes for on-the-spot troubleshooting.

Staff can also answer questions about recent changes to the Converter Box Coupon Program, which is now accepting applications from consumers whose coupons expired. The Program will accept coupon applications until July 31, 2009, if funds are available to fill those requests. Further information about changes to the Converter Box Coupon Program can be obtained at https://www.dtv2009.gov/CouponProgramUpdate.aspx.
