Work Resumes On Highway 54 In Meade County

The Kansas Department of Transportation expects a resurfacing project on US-54 in Meade County to resume on Monday, April 2. This project began last fall and all work west of Meade and a portion of the work east of Meade was completed. The remaining section runs from the east junction of US-54 and US-160, east to the Meade/Clark County line.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zone, guided by a pilot car, during daylight hours. Drivers can expect delays of 15 minutes or less. The Kansas DOT reminds drivers to be alert, pay attention to all work zone warning signs, slow down and be prepared to stop.

Shilling Construction Company, Inc., of Manhattan, Kansas, is the primary contractor on this approximately $7.3 million T-WORKS preservation project. KDOT expects the remaining portion of this project to be finished by May, weather permitting.
