Texhoma Women Injured In Accident On Hwy. 54

A Texhoma woman is listed in critical condition in an Amarillo hospital following an motor vehicle accident on icy roads in Texas County early Friday morning.

Denise Keylon, 45, of Texhoma was transported to Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon and then mediflighted to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, where she was admitted with trunk external and leg injuries.

UPDATE: Keylon underwent surgery Friday morning and things are said to be looking better. Both legs were broken and her pelvis, as well as internal injuries. Please keep her nd her family in your prayers.

According to the OHP report, the accident occurred at 1 a.m. Friday, Dec. 23, three miles east of Texhoma on an icy US Hwy 54 in Texas County.

Keylon had stopped her 2006 Pontiac 4-door in the center of Hwy 54 facing westbound to help a stranded motorist. She had placed four occupants into her vehicle — Sarah Gordon, 33, of Valley Center, Kansas, James Gordon, 7, of Valley Center, Sophia Gordon, 6, of Valley Center, and Tristna Franklin, 2, of Valley Center. The passengers were not injured.

As Keylon was walking around her vehicle to get back in, she was struck by a westbound 2000 Subaru driven by Maria Swenson, 24, of Riverside, California. According to the report, Swenson tried to stop, but slid on the ice and struck Keylon.

Swenson was transported to Memorial Hospital in Texas County, where she was treated and released as was her passenger, Jonathan Ludwig, 28, of Columbia, California.

All were wearing seatbelts, except pedestrian Keylon.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Ryan Williams of the Guymon Detachment. He was assisted by Trooper Levi Hill, Texhoma Police Department, Texhoma EMS and Texas County Sheriff’s Office.
