National Beef of Dodge City Votes In Favor Of Union

KSCB News - November 8, 2011 8:06 am

Workers at a Dodge City meatpacking
plant have voted in favor of union representation.
The National Labor Relations Board supervised the two-day
election at National Beef Packing Co. The agency said Monday the
vote was 1,292 in favor and 824 against representation by the
United Food and Commercial Workers International Union.
The union would represent about 2,600 employees in production
and maintenance, shipping and receiving, grounds keeping and the
warehouse.
NLRB says if no objections are filed within seven days, the
union will be certified as the representative of the bargaining
unit. The vote was held last week with election notices printed in
Spanish, Laotian and Vietnamese as well as English.
