A new report says Kansas collected $27
million more in taxes than anticipated in September.
It was the sixth consecutive month that tax collections have
exceeded expectations.
The state Department of Revenue issued preliminary figures
Friday showing that Kansas received $562 million in tax revenues
for the month, when the expected amount was $535 million. The
difference is about 5 percent.
The department also said tax collections since July 1, when the
current fiscal year began, were about $66 million ahead of
expectations, again about 5 percent. Total collections for the
three months were about $1.4 billion.
In September, individual income tax collections, at $275
million, were about 6 percent higher than anticipated, exceeding
expectations by $15 million.
Corporate income and sales tax collections also exceeded
expectations.
