Ulysses Voters Approve Sales Tax

KSCB News - July 13, 2011 8:51 pm

Voters in Ulysses approve a one percent sales tax to help raise revenue for the city.

During a special vote Tuesday, the Grant County Clerk says the tax passed with 392 votes in favor of it and just 292 against it. Ulysses city leaders say they need the extra revenue to pay for things like public safety and city maintenance.

The votes will be certified on Friday. The Grant County Clerk says there was only a 20 percent turnout. She says there were just nine provisional ballots, not enough to change the outcome of the vote.
