Garden City Man Killed In Highway Accident

A 20-year-old Garden City man has been killed in a highway accident in Haskell County.

Oscar Armando Melgar was traveling northbound on U-83 at 5:50 Saturday morning, when he went left of center and struck another vehicle.

The accident happened just north of the junction of U-83 and Haskell County Road 30th. Melgar’s passengers, Luz M. Mejia-Zavala, 35; Yomaria Ramirez, 21, and Jocelyn Zavala, 12, all of Garden City, were all taken to St. Catherine’s in Garden City for treatment. Jocelyn Zavala was later flown by helicopter to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

The driver of the other vehicle, 21-year-old Logan Flower of Plainville, and his passenger, Courtney Hrabe, 22, of Stockton, were taken to St. Catherine’s in Garden City for treatment.
