Boat Traffic To Resume At Canton Lake After Devastating Tornado

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says boat
traffic can resume at a northwest Oklahoma lake that was pummeled
with debris during a deadly tornado outbreak last month.
A tornado ripped through Canton Lake May 24, causing significant
damage to Canadian Campground and depositing a large amount of
debris into the water. Boating traffic was barred because of the
debris.
Corps officials said Friday that boats will be able to access
Canton Lake from boat ramps at the Big Bend and C&A Recreation
Areas as well as the Blaine Park boat ramp. Ramps at the Longdale
Area are closed because of the low lake area and ramps at the
Canadian Campground area and the Canadian Day Use Area are closed
because of damage.
Eleven people died in the tornado outbreak.
