The U.S. Forest Service, Cimarron National Grassland will be conducting a public meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Morton County Civic Center in Elkhart.

The U.S. Forest Service will be discussing the recent Tunner Fire that took place on the Cimarron National Grassland and adjacent private land. Topics to be discussed include initial attack and fire suppression activities, resources affected by the fire , the USFS rehabilitation process, and areas that are open and closed on the Cimarron National Grassland.

The Farm Service Administration and Natural Resource Conservation Service will be on hand to present opportunities and programs available to people affected by the fire.

The Kansas Forest Service will give a Firewise presentation for rural communities and landowners, regarding ways to help protect private property during a wildfire.
