Kansas reports that its unemployment rate
remained at 6.8 percent in March and it saw a slight loss in jobs
over the previous year.
The state Department of Labor noted Tuesday that the
unemployment rate, though unchanged from February, was better than
March 2010’s rate of 7.2 percent. The figures were adjusted to
account for normal, season trends in hiring.
About 107,000 Kansans were unemployed and actively seeking work
in March.
The state had about 1.3 million people employed in March. That
was a gain of about 15,000 jobs from February, or a 1.1 percent
increase.
But it was still 5,200 fewer people working than in March 2010,
a decline of four-tenths of 1 percent.
