Study Says Holcomb Plant Won’t Be That Clean.

A new study is questioning claims that a proposed Sunflower power plant in Kansas will be the cleanest coal plant in the country.

The study says hundreds of coal plants will have cleaner emissions than the plant Sunflower Electric Power Corp wants to build near Holcomb.

The report was compiled by MSB Energy Associates and the Natural Resources Defense Council for Great Plains Alliance for Clean Energy, a nonprofit organization that opposes the plant.

Sunflower officials and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment said they stood by the permit approved for the plant in December.
