Authorities are trying to identify a young man whose body was found Saturday in rural Ford County.
Ford County Sheriff Dean Bush said Sunday that two hunters found the body around 9:30 a.m. Saturday north of 108 and Horseshoe roads. The victim had suffered a bullet wound to the head.
Bush said authorities do not know who the victim is or his age — although he may have been in his late teens or early 20s.
“We’re continuing to work to try to identify who he is, but so far we haven’t had an awful lot of luck in that,” Bush said.
He said no one has come forward to identify the body or file a missing-persons report. The sheriff’s office has shown a photograph of the man to local law enforcement officers, but no one recognized him.
He said no one was certain whether the victim was from the area.
The body was taken to the Sedgwick County Forensic Science Center for an autopsy, but the time of death was not immediately clear.
