Kansas Republican Gov.-elect Sam Brownback
is preparing to announce a portion of his Cabinet and staff.
Brownback scheduled a news conference Tuesday in the Statehouse
to announce his selections. His transition team declined Monday to
say which Cabinet posts are being filled.
During his campaign, Brownback said he would focus as governor
on improving the Kansas economy and creating new jobs for the
estimated 100,000 people out of work. The Kansas unemployment rate
was 6.4 percent in October.
Brownback was elected Nov. 2 and will take the oath of office on
Jan. 10. He replaces Democratic Gov. Mark Parkinson.
