Kansas has reached a major milestone under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act – completing weatherization work of 50 percent of the 5,820 homes the state planned to weatherize. To celebrate this accomplishment, state and local officials will gather at 11am on Tuesday, November 23rd at Westkan Limited Apartments in Liberal where 110 apartments serving low-income families have recently been weatherized.

Development, Seward County and the State of Kansas. Speakers include

Gary Allsup, Executive Director of KHRC, Kansas State Representative

Carl Holmes and Seward County Commissioner Stephen Eisenhauer.

WHAT: Activities planned include:

* Presentation of a signed Governor’s Proclamation highlighting the benefits of weatherization

* Tour of apartments featuring newly installed ENERGY STAR heating and cooling systems, water heaters, windows and appliances

* Description of air sealing process and actual reduction in utility costs/ energy consumption

* Lunch served after ceremony
