Competition Too Much in Manhattan

KSCB News - October 11, 2010 12:00 am

In one regard, the mission was accomplished. Liberal’s volleyball team saw “big school” competition in Manhattan Saturday. In another regard, they would have loved to have won more going 2-4 Saturday. Liberal lost to Junction City (25-15, 24-26, 16-25) and Manhattan (16-25, 20-25) in pool play. Liberal beat Rossville (25-21, 26-24). In bracket play, LHS fell to Gardner-Edgerton (8-25, 15-25), Junction City (18-25, 21-25), but beat Rossville (25-21, 25-9). Katie Burnett led LHS with 36 kills while Jai Chapman added 29 kills. Ashlyn Westerman dished 63 assists. Riley Hay had 30 digs and Burnett had 23. Destiny Hall had 12 blocks for the Redskins. LHS is 22-11 and competes at Hugoton’s tournament Tuesday.
