A Guymon woman died Tuesday evening after being struck by a car.

Shortly after 7 p.m., 54-year-old Charlotte Hoffman was walking on Tiger Blvd. between James and Academy St. when she was struck by a vehicle headed west on Tiger Blvd.

The vehicle, driven by Carla Dibbern, 35, of Guymon. She was reportedly blinded by the sun, not seeing the pedestrian in the road.

Two witness with written statements to the incident, reported that the driver did not appear to be driving recklessly.

Hoffman died on scene shortly after being struck.

Dibbern was taken to the hospital, with no report of injuries.

The incident is still under investigation.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol is performing basic skid tests to determine the specifics of the accident and the Medical Examiner is awaiting blood work taken from the driver.

“These are standard tests required by state law when there is a fatality,” said Guymon Chief of Police Eddie Adamson.

Results will be turned over to the the District Attorney to determine if charges need be filed.

“Regardless of the results, it is a tragic incident. The loss is a blow to the community and very sad for everyone involved,” continued Adamson.
