Warm, dry weather has given Kansas farmers
a one-week jump on getting their corn crop harvested.
Kansas Agricultural Statistics Service reported Monday the corn
harvest is 28 percent complete. That’s twice the amount of corn
that’s usually in the bin at this point in the season.
Harvest is also under way for the state’s sorghum crop. KASS
reports 3 percent of the sorghum has been cut.
Kansas farmers have also begun planting next year’s winter wheat
crop.
The agency reports about 5 percent of the winter wheat has been
seeded so far.
