Kansas Agricultural Statistics Service has estimated that 9 percent of the Kansas wheat crop is now ripe for harvest.

The agency said Monday that compares with 12 percent at this time last year. On average by this late in the season, about 41percent would be ready to cut.

Wheat condition is rated as 7 percent excellent, 42 percent good, 32 percent fair, 14 percent poor and 5 percent very poor.
