Joe Denoyer - January 15, 2024 4:31 pm
The 75th International Pancake Day is Feb. 13th, and racers of all ages may begin signing up online at www.pancakeday.net. The forms must be printed, filled out, and taken to the Recreation Center, 950 S. Grant Street, by 5:00pm on Friday, January 26th. These sign-ups are for all races and all age groups. The number of contestants in each race is limited to 15, except for the 5K and Walk and Roll Race on Saturday February 10th. A category will be closed once that limit is reached. There is no entry fee. No late sign-ups will be accepted.
RACE CATEGORIES:
The International Race The International Race is the main event, and this will be 75th match-up between the women of Liberal, Kansas, and Olney, England. This race is limited to women age 18 or older with a Liberal address who have “domestic duties.” (High school students who are 18 should enter the youth division.) Women who sign up for the International Race should bring a photo of themselves when they sign up.
Men’s Pacer Race The Men’s Pacer Race is open to all men ages 18 and older (except those still enrolled in high school, who will run in the youth division).
Youth Races Children from ages 3-18 who live in Liberal are eligible, and each age and gender competes in a separate category, offering lots of room for Liberal’s youngest Pancake Day Racers. The runners parent or guardian must be present to sign the entry form.
The Last Chance Race is for women only 50 and older. Open to women 50 years of age or over. The distance of the race will be 75 yards.
Mascot Race is an animal, person or thing adopted by a group, or as a representative symbol and is supposed to bring good luck. Superheroes are not considered as mascots and ineligible to be in the race. The race will also be 75 yards.
