LIBERAL, Kan. – Seward County Community College women’s basketball team prepares for the Region VI Tournament as they enter the tournament as the three seed. The Lady Saints receive a bye in the first round and will host the No. 11 seed Colby Community College on March 1st at 5 PM. The gameday sponsor will be Lewis Chevrolet of Liberal and supporters will be able to receive tickets for the Region VI second-round game at their 2nd street location.
Seward County had a bye in the final week of the regular season and had to wait until Wednesday night to see the final conference results. The Lady Saints finished the regular season with a 21-9 record and ended conference play with a 17-7 record. Independence Community College and Hutchinson finished tied for first place in conference play with a 19-5 record but the Pirates claimed the No. 1 with the tiebreaker going back to their head-to-head record against Seward County. Barton claimed the No. 4 seed as the Cougars closed out the regular season on a three-game winning streak. These top four teams will receive a bye into the second round of the Region VI tournament and will host the winners of the first-round matchups.
The Lady Saints will take on Colby as they won 73-55 on Saturday at in Coffeyville. Seward County swept the Trojans during the regular season with a 92-78 victory at home on November 23rd, 2021, and a 77-52 victory in Colby on January 23rd.
The first-round games will all take place this Saturday, February 26th and the Lady Saints will be watching to see who they will face in the second round. Seward County will host the winner of Coffeeville and Colby on Pancake Day March 1st at 5 PM in the Greenhouse. 4:45 Saints Shoot-around on 107.5 and the KSCB and The Legend App.
