Another good start and another rough finish for the Liberal baseball team. The Redskins continued their trend of building an early lead but losing the game late Monday night at Garden City’s Lightner Field. The Redskins built a 5-0 lead in the middle of the fifth only to see the Buffaloes rally for an 8-6 win over LHS.
The Redskins scored four runs in the first. They added a fifth inning run to lead 5-0. But Garden City came alive with three in the fifth and five in the sixth. The Skins scored one in the seventh and left the bases loaded when the final out was recorded.
The Buffs out hit the Skins 6-5 and both teams committed one error.
Aaron Barboza started the game on the mound and went five innings allowing three earned runs. Shay Kerr was 3-3 with three runs scored.
Liberal falls to 5-9 overall and 0-5 in the WAC. Liberal plays a double header at Hays Friday at 4 with Redskin Pre-game on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
