GREAT program starting soon

School Resource Officers are beginning their summer GREAT program.  GREAT (gang resistance education and training) is an internationally recognized prevention program aimed toward 5th graders.  It has been taught during the school year for the last several years.  This is the second year that we have offered it during the summer as well.  The summer program builds upon the lessons learned during the school year while maintaining a fun environment for the kids.  The summer program also assists the kids in the their transition from elementary school to middle school.  In addition to the classes, the students will enjoy time at the Liberal Recreation Center, Adventure Bay Waterpark, Rine’s Karate, and Southgate Theater.
