SEWARD COUNTY, Kan. With help of a K-9, the Seward County Sheriff’s Office uncovers more than 28 pounds of marijuana on a traffic stop.

It happened about 12:40 a.m. Thursday (May 4) in the 300 block of West Pancake Blvd in Liberal.

“As a part of the investigation a K-9 officer was requested. PSD (Police Service Dog) NIKO was deployed on the vehicle for a free air drug sniff,” the sheriff’s office says.

NIKO indicated there were illegal drugs in the vehicle and a subsequent search confirmed it.

The sheriff’s office says it found 28.3 pounds of marijuana in the vehicle’s trunk.

The sheriff’s office did not provide information on arrests or possible charges in this case.
