KSCB News - December 27, 2011 8:26 am

4-H Shooter, Zachary League, aimed to win Saturday the 17th. He competed in Northwest District Air Rifle and Archery shoot. League shot a 185 which placed was placed him second and Reserve Champion of the District meet.
He also won Reserve Champion of the entire Winter Shooting series with a score of 366. The Champion edged him out with a score of 405.
What that translates to is four higher scoring shots would have won League the match.
Beginner Air Rifle shooters target a black circle that is about the size of a quarter. They must hit that target at a distance of 10 meter, roughly 32 feet. That “quarter” target is fired upon 10 times per position: standing, kneeling and prone. Intermediate and Senior shooters double the number of shots.
League also competes with his Compound Bow. He will be competing at the State Indoor Archery Shoot in Stillwater, January the 14th. Zachary is a 6th grader at Hooker Elementary and a member of the Guymon 4-H club.
