3 Year Old Drowns In Garden City

Garden City police say a 3-year-old girl drowned Sunday night. It happened around 9 p.m. in the 2000 block of Cherokee Road.

Officers arrived and found a 3-year-old girl unresponsive and not breathing. Family members began CPR, and officers continued lifesaving efforts.

The victim was transported to St Catharine Hospital by Finney County EMS. The girl died at the hospital. Police have not identified her.

The investigation revealed that several family members were attending a birthday party at the home. The children who were swimming exited the pool and went into the home when it was discovered that the victim was not inside. A search of the area began, and the victim was found in the swimming pool unresponsive.

Garden City police continue to investigate.
