A two vehicle accident occured Saturday evening at approximately 7:25pm on Highway 54, 1/2 mile west of Tyrone.
A 2018 Peterbilt driven by James Schiebert, 71, of Ogden, Iowa. was westbound on highway 54, when a 2002 Jeep Liberty driven by Felipe Balandran-Vazquez, 70, of Liberal, who was traveling east, lost control and went left of center and struck the semi. The Jeep exited the roadway to the right and rolled ¼ time,coming to rest on the driver’s side. Both occupants of Jeep were extricated by Hooker Fire Department and Tyrone Fire Department using the Jaws of Life.
Balandran-Vazquez and his passenger, Maria Partida, 61, of Liberal, were taken to Southwest Medical Center to be treated for their injuries. They are listed in stable condition.
