2 Bus Crashes in Ulysses Sees Only Minor Injuries

Police in Ulysses say there were no major injuries after two crashes involving buses occurred within an hour of each other on the same street.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, officers and EMS were alerted to a crash involving a bus and a passenger car at the intersection of W Oklahoma Ave. and S Colorado St.

The Ulysses Police Department says a Hugoton activities bus was northbound on Colorado Street when a passenger car, southbound on Colorado, turned east onto Oklahoma Ave causing the crash.

Approximately 30 children and adults were on board the bus. One person suffered minor injuries and was evaluated and released at the scene by EMS.

Both occupants of the passenger car were sent to a local hospital with minor injuries.

About an hour later, UPD says they were notified of a second crash involving a car and a bus at Oklahoma Ave. and Stubbs Road.

Police say just before 3:30 p.m., an activity bus from Syracuse was eastbound on Oklahoma Ave. when it collided with a northbound passenger car on Stubbs Road.

About 28 children and adults were on the bus and EMS evaluated three at the scene. One person was released at the scene and two bus occupants were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the passenger car was evaluated by EMS and released at the scene.
