1st Annual Math Night at Sunflower Intermediate

On Tuesday, March 6th, the Parent Engagement/Character Education Committees hosted the 1st Annual Family Math Carnival at Sunflower Intermediate. The night was a huge success. Teachers prepared a booth that centered around a math concept that 4 ?? 6th grade students should know. Some booths featured head-to-head competitions, while others were a one-on-one experience. Students had to complete their Bingo card by visiting each booth to be entered into a drawing for numerous prizes. The Grand Prize was an electric guitar. The prizes were drawn for at the Wednesday morning assembly.

Also, the Character Education Committee had challenged students to demonstrate the character trait of the month ?? Caring ?? by preparing baskets in their classroom that would support a local charity. The baskets were up for grabs in a silent auction. All money collected from the silent auction went to a charity chosen by each class. Some of the charities that Sunflower Intermediate supported included: Big Brothers Big Sisters, The American Red Cross, The Animal Shelter, SW Miracles, and the Stepping Stone Shelter.

The Parent Engagement and Character Education Committee would like to thank everyone who helped make the Math Carnival a huge success. Our goal is to reach more Sunflower parents and keep them informed of what happens in their child??s classroom.
