Liberal Physicians to Offer Urology, Orthopedic Services in Elkhart

Residents in the Elkhart area will soon have new specialty care choices closer to home with the addition of outreach services provided by Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.

Beginning in September, urology physician, Fadi Darwiche, M.D., and orthopedic surgeon, Firas Kawtharani, M.D., will provide monthly clinic appointments at the Morton County Medical Clinic.

Dr. Fadi Darwiche of the Urology Care Center in Liberal has worked at Southwest Medical Center since August 2016. In his practice, Darwiche treats many urological conditions, including cancer, stones, urinary infections, erectile dysfunction, fertility disorders in men, incontinence in men and women, pediatric disorders (undescended testicles, circumcision, hydrocele), and neurologic bladder issues.

Dr. Darwiche is a fellowship-trained urologist and has been practicing urology since 2001. He completed a reconstructive urology fellowship in France, fellowship in urologic oncology at the Miami University and Jackson Memorial hospitals, and had his most recent fellowship training in urologic oncology and robotic surgery at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York.

Dr. Darwiche’s upcoming clinic dates at the Morton County Medical Clinic include September 7, October 5, November 2, and December 7.

Dr. Firas Kawtharani of the Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Care Center joined Southwest Medical Center in April 2018. He provides orthopedic care, in addition to caring for orthopedic trauma, sports medicine, and total joint replacements for patients of all ages.

Dr. Kawtharani completed his undergraduate and medical degree at the American University of Beirut. Dr. Kawtharani completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the American University of Beirut Medical Center before arriving in the United States to continue fellowship training in sports medicine at the Cincinnati Medicine and Orthopaedic Center. Kawtharani further broadened his skills through fellowship training in orthopedic trauma surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Kawtharani’s upcoming clinic dates at the Morton County Medical Clinic include September 21, October 26, November 16, and December 21.

Dr. Darwiche and Dr. Kawtharani accept new patients and most major insurances, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicare, and Kansas and Oklahoma Medicaid.
